At 72, McCain has managed to morph into the irrational, erratic and risky candidate, leaving Obama the safe and steady hand. Tonight, McCain should also try shedding the angry, attacking and unpredictable image he's assumed in recent weeks. He needs to return to the sunny, self-effacing and optimistic warrior that made him the apple of so many Independents' eyes throughout his political career. Even if McCain pulls it off tonight, it may not be enough to win the election.
