I am endeavoring to be more narrow-minded every day, in Christ. Certainly to be narrow-minded for a Christian is spot on! The Lord's way is narrow. We are called to be closed to many thing of this world. We must choose, and if everyone were honest, we find that we all become narrow-minded once we zero in on what we believe is the truth. Matthew 7:13 – "Enter by the narrow gate ..." Matthew 7:14 – "For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few." Luke 13:24 – "Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able." For believers, these Dictionary.com definitions are good qualities: "Having or showing a prejudiced mind, as persons or opinions; biased." We are biased to the Lord. We are to love others, but not accept sinful ways. "Not receptive to new ideas; having a closed mind." We want to be closed to the things and ideas that are not of the Lord. "Extremely conservative and morally self-righteous." We desire to be as conservative as the Lord directs us to be. We are made righteous by Christ's work for us. I want to remain on the Lord's straight and narrow path. That means I will be closed (minded) to many things and the ideas of many people in this world.
Good deal.
