''Yet liberals trust only those people bearing undeserved gifts. They follow politicians like children followed the bad lady, caring not about the liberal politicians' motives but only about the free goodies they may receive. They haven't grown intellectually to a point where they will question the motives behind the gifts. Nowhere is this more evident than the congressional hearings with automobile company executives. Prime Minister Nancy Pelosi vilified the executives for flying to Washington in private jets. For the first time in history I found myself partially agreeing with her. After all, they were in Washington for bailouts, and it certainly seemed inappropriate to flaunt their elitism.''

I am always amazed by the absolute trust accorded elected officials by liberals. As long as the elected officials espouse a liberal ideology, it seems hardwired in the liberal's mind to believe that politicians are benevolent caretakers. This seems to be the case no matter how much evidence there is to the contrary. If a politician is liberal, fellow liberals will overlook any character flaw and any reprehensible action and will consider that politician a pillar of society and the protector of the poor.
Of course, it doesn't matter if the liberal politician is exceedingly
wealthy. Such politicians are considered deserving of their wealth because of their apparent work for the poor. It doesn't matter if the history of that politician includes illegal dealings or even bribery. Nothing matters except the ideology. In the 2000 presidential election, liberals claimed George W. Bush stole the election because he won the Electoral College but lost the popular vote. During the 2008 primary, Hillary Rodham Clinton was trying to court the super delegates.
