The only Jew in school – at Christmas

The only Jew in school – at Christmas

''Christmas to a Jewish boy in public school in North Carolina back then was fragrant, dreamy, enticing, beautiful and enviable in the pleasant sense. There was no feeling of anything being forced down our throats, but rather of something exceedingly pleasant being offered to our lips, nostrils and hearts. We didn't feel like tolerated onlookers. We felt like honored guests at a spiritual Super Bowl of our friends and neighbors.''

It's been half a century since Jewish organizations started trying to ban Christmas carols in classrooms and nativity displays of model shepherds and oriental kings on the courthouse lawn. And I still get the same urge I got then to tell them to throw away their wet blanket and let Christmas be.
Being Jewish is nowhere near enough to win your agreement. You've got to be the only Jewish child in the entire school in a small Southern town where the first day of December set the schoolyard ablaze with colored lights and mangers and stars and cardboard sheep, and teachers leading the singing of "Joy to the World" as they unpacked alabaster Jesus statues still gleaming from the year before. You've got to remember the ecstasy of the teacher when Otis' father, the big feed-and-grain man, offered to donate real hay for the manger scene, and how David Alston's mother craftily made sure the poor kids would get as many
gifts at the class party as everybody else, along with a few canned goods to take home.
I could pretty much sing along with the class when Christmas carols broke out, but I remember how impressed I was with the level of Christian intelligence when it turned out the Christian kids knew more than the first verse. Now, get this for North Carolina logic: The teachers knew I went to Hebrew school. Therefore, since I had studied a biblical language, they figured I could handle Latin better than the Methodist, Baptist and Presbyterian kids. So, since there were zero Catholic kids in the school, I was routinely chosen to solo the "Ave Maria" in Latin on stage at the Christmas play. It would make a better story if the teachers had thought Hebrew in some way resembled Latin, but why press it? It was charming enough for the Protestant super-majority to select a Jewish boy to do the job of a Catholic boy because there were none. By the way, none of us kids of any denomination had any idea what a "virgin" was – as in "Round yon virgin mother and child" – but we all assumed it had something to do with our neighboring state of Virginia.

Bill O'Reilly soft on Obama

Bill O'Reilly soft on Obama

''O'Reilly praising Al Sharpton — where do we go from here? Bouquets for Acorn? Support for getting U.S. troops out of Iraq?
This kinder ,gentler Bill is a real surprise. But hey, it is the holiday season. Good will to men and all that.''

It certainly seems that O'Reilly has been impressed. His gushing column on his night at the White House media party last week reads like a missive from the liberal website Moveon.org — not from the O'Reilly we all know.
Consider this: "
Michelle Obama, whom I had never met, was stunning. She was warm and kind to my 10-year-old daughter and gracious to me. My quick assessment of her: Strong, charismatic, and beautiful."
Wow! Hard to imagine
Sean Hannity saying that.
Or consider this: "At Christmastime, we should all put politics aside. And that's what the Obamas did. There were a number of
Republicans at the party and everybody I talked with had a great time. I was pleased with the event and, again, feel privileged to have had the vantage point.
"So, I received my Christmas present early. Thanks for the party, Mr. President."
Cue
Glenn Beck — almost choking on those words. http://www.irishcentral.com/opinion/Has-Bill-OReilly-gone-soft-on-Obama-79888222.html

Suicide is politics

Suicide is politics

I've asked myself many times, "Why would seemingly successful career politicians risk their futures by voting for such despicable and destructive policies as the health-care bill, opposed by so many constituents?" I've come to the conclusion that these politicians are not significantly different from the vested Islamic suicide bombers we read about daily in Iraq, Iran and Pakistan.
The vested suicide bombers are pawns of a cabal of religious zealots who would never consider risking their own lives, but encourage the ignorant masses, indoctrinated from youth, to sacrifice all for Allah and expansion of their belief system. These pawns are convinced that they are martyrs, assured of paradise because of their loyalty and sacrifice to their religious purpose.
The politicians, similarly, are pawns used by the unseen "powers that be," who pulled the strings to put people like our current POTUS into power. These political pawns realize they are committing (political) suicide, but are convinced they are martyrs, assured of future rewards because of their loyalty and sacrifice. Those pulling the strings understand that their time is short, that after November 2010 their window of opportunity will close. To accomplish their goals, they are willing to sacrifice the very puppets they control so they can progress toward achieving their goal of world domination and tyranny.
Like the vested suicide perps, the suicidal politicians will realize too late that they've been duped. Rather than upholding the Constitution as they pledged, they instead have become terrorists of the very society they promised to serve.
I just pray for the victims of suicide. Lord, open the eyes of this nation. Remove the scales from our eyes.

Anti-Muslim Backlash, What Backlash??

Anti-Muslim Backlash, What Backlash??

''Moderate Muslims are afraid - they value their families and their heads.''

Don't believe the FBI's statistics? Data compiled by Muslim lobby groups paint a similar picture. The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee Research Institute's 2003-2007 Report on Hate Crimes and Discrimination Against Arab Americans found "The rate of violent hate crimes against Arab Americans continued to decline from the immediate post 9-11 surge, to a level somewhat but not dramatically increased over that seen in the five years leading up to the 2001 attacks." A 2008 survey by Human Rights First called Violence Against Muslims found only two assaults based on anti-Muslim sentiment in 2007 and 2008, no incidents under "violent backlash to terrorist and other attacks" and just one incident under "attacks on places of worship and cemeteries." It has been more than a month since U.S. Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan allegedly murdered 14 people and wounded 30 others at Fort Hood military base in Texas. And while we were led to believe that the rampage by Hasan, who is Muslim, would provoke a strong and violent reaction against Arab and Muslim Americans, a backlash has been conspicuous only by its absence.
In fact, in the immediate aftermath of each of the dozen attacks by Muslim Americans since 9-11, the conversation has been dominated by predictions of inevitable violence toward Muslims by bigoted Americans unable to control their rage. And each time a backlash has been virtually nonexistent. Our journalistic and political elites have become terrorism's unwitting domestic enablers, perceiving religion-based violence where there is none, while ignoring it where it is widespread and intensifying.

History of climate gets 'erased' online

History of climate gets 'erased' online

''"With the release of the Climategate e-mails, the disappearing trick has been exposed," Solomon declared. "The glorious Medieval Warm Period will remain in the history books, perhaps with an asterisk to describe how a band of zealots once tried to make it disappear."

A new report reveals a British scientist and Wikipedia administrator rewrote climate history, editing more than 5,000 unique articles in the online encyclopedia to cover traces of a medieval warming period – something Climategate scientists saw as a major roadblock in the effort to spread the global warming message.
Recently
hacked e-mails from the University of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit expose a plot to eliminate the Medieval Warm Period, a 400-year era that began around A.D. 1000, the Financial Post's Lawrence Solomon reports.
The warming period is said to have improved agriculture and increased life spans, but scientists at the center of the Climategate e-mail scandal believed the era undermined their goal of spreading concern about global warming as it pertains to today's climate.
Solomon noted the warming period presented a dilemma long before the Climategate e-mail scandal.
A 1995 e-mail predating the recent Climate Research Unit scandal was sent to geophysicist David Deming. A major climate-change researcher told Deming, "
We have to get rid of the Medieval Warm Period."
Some scientists later expressed concern about erasing the period.

U.K.: Create global environment cops

U.K.: Create global environment cops

''I think we can protect and help those people’s lives and indeed protect them from climate change through this agreement...The fact is that we have got fast-start finance of $10 billion a year flowing as a result of this agreement.''

A new global body dedicated to environmental stewardship is needed to prevent a repeat of the deadlock which undermined the Copenhagen climate change summit, Gordon Brown will say tomorrow.
The UN’s consensual method of negotiation, which requires all 192 countries to reach agreement, needs to be reformed to ensure that the will of the majority prevails, he feels.
The Prime Minister will say: “Never again should we face the deadlock that threatened to pull down those talks. Never again should we let a global deal to move towards a greener future be held to ransom by only a handful of countries. One of the frustrations for me was the lack of a global body with the sole responsibility for environmental stewardship.
“I believe that in 2010 we will need to look at reforming our international institutions to meet the common challenges we face as a global community.” The summit failed to produce a political agreement among all the countries. Delegates instead passed a motion on Saturday “taking note” of an accord drawn up the night before by five countries: the US, China, India, Brazil and South Africa.

The Obamanoid Nobel Prize

The Obamanoid Nobel Prize

''Did Obama ignore this constitutional provision, as he has so many others, because he actually seeks to undermine the foundational document of American government? Greed? Ignorance? Pride? Intentional violation of the highest law in the land? What is the reason and rationale?''

Many have questioned whether Barack Obama truly deserved the Nobel Peace Prize.
That's not the purpose of this column.
As far as I am concerned, the Nobel ceased to have much in the way of honorific qualities after it was bestowed on such unsavory and unworthy candidates as Al Gore, Yasser Arafat, Jimmy Carter, Mikhail Gorbachev and Kofi Annan.
My concern about Barack Obama's acceptance of the Nobel Peace Prize is that it was patently unconstitutional.
I guess that should surprise no one given Obama's penchant for unconstitutional activity.
Yet, this one is flagrant, personal and, worst of all, petty.
Article I, Section 9, of the Constitution, known as the emolument clause, states: "And no Person holding any
Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Price or foreign State. …"
Is Obama really out to defend the "little guy"? Far from it. Learn realities of president's policies you won't see on cable news: "Obamanomics: How Barack Obama Is Bankrupting You and Enriching His Wall Street Friends, Corporate Lobbyists, and Union Bosses"
Most Americans may not realize, as I did not until very recently, that the Nobel commission is elected by the parliament of Norway. That means the peace prize is made by a commission representing the legislature of a foreign state. There's little question the award amounts to an emolument – at nearly $1.5 million and a priceless gold medal.

Tea partiers: America's last best hope

Tea partiers: America's last best hope

''If the tea-party activists can hold the line, they can, next fall, send Congress a message it will not soon forget about getting off this Acela to globalism and getting back to putting America first.''

For Democrats like Harry Reid, who called them "evil-mongers," and Nancy Pelosi, who called them "un-American," the NBC News
poll must have hit like a sucker punch at a Georgetown wine-and-cheese.
The tea-party movement, those folks rallying against spending last spring and Obamacare in the summer town halls, are viewed more favorably than the Democratic Party.
Forty-one percent of Americans have a favorable opinion of the tea-party movement, to 35 percent for Obama's party. Only 24 percent view tea-party activists unfavorably, while 45 percent hold a negative view of the Democrats.
While tea-party types played a role in the GOP's comeback – helping take down Gov. Jon Corzine in New Jersey and turning a John McCain deficit of 6 points in the Old Dominion into a 17-point victory for Bob McDonnell – the movement is no subsidiary of the GOP. For it played a major role in routing liberal Republican "Dede" Scozzafava in New York's 23rd and came within a point of electing a third-party conservative.
As congressional elections are 10 months off, though primaries begin in the spring, where do tea-party types find the battles to keep them in fighting trim? Copenhagen may have provided an answer.
While Obama came
home with a nothing-burger, Hillary stole the show. Without authorization of Congress, she committed the United States to lead a campaign to transfer, beginning in 2020, $100 billion a year "to address climate change needs in developing countries." The fund would start at $10 billion and grow by 1,000 percent in a decade.
Climate change? Sure – it happens four times a year. Get the bumper sticker that expresses your opinion about science hoax
The $100-billion-a-year global fund sprang from the fertile mind of Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
By 2020, U.S. citizens, whose nation is careening toward default, will be borrowing tens of billions more every year from China, if Beijing is still willing to lend to us, so we can ship those tens of billions off to the sump holes of the Third World.

Blinding, Politicized Science

Blinding, Politicized Science

''Today, politicized "science" has too big a stake in the global-warming hysteria to let the facts speak for themselves and let the chips fall where they may. Too many people – in politics and in the media, as well as among those climate scientists who are promoting global-warming hysteria – let the raw data on which their calculations have been based fall into the "wrong hands."''

Science is one of the great achievements of the human mind and the biggest reason why we live not only longer but more vigorously in our old age, in addition to all the ways in which it provides us with things that make life easier and more enjoyable.
Like anything valuable, science has been seized upon by politicians and ideologues, and used to forward their own agendas. This started long ago, as far back as the 18th century, when the Marquis de Condorcet coined the term "social science" to describe various theories he favored. In the 19th century, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels distinguished their own
brand of socialism as "scientific socialism." By the 20th century, all sorts of notions wrapped themselves in the mantle of "science."
"Global warming" hysteria is only the latest in this long line of notions, whose main argument is that there is no argument, because it is "science." The recently revealed destruction of raw data at the bottom of the global warming hysteria, as well as revelations of attempts to prevent critics of this hysteria from being published in leading journals, suggests that the disinterested search for truth – the hallmark of real science – has taken a back seat to a political crusade.
An intercepted
e-mail from a professor at the Climate Research Unit in England to a professor at the University of Pennsylvania warned the latter: "Don't any of you three tell anybody that the UK has a Freedom of Information Act" and urged the American professor to delete any e-mails he may have sent a colleague regarding the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
Express your views on climate change in the most straightforward way possible -- bumper sticker declares: "Global Warming is a Hoax"
When a business accused of fraud begins shredding its memos and deleting its e-mails, the media are quick to proclaim these actions as signs of guilt. But, after the global warming advocates began a systematic destruction of evidence, the big television networks went for days without even reporting these facts, much less commenting on them.

America's birth is linked to the birth of Jesus Christ

America's birth is linked to the birth of Jesus Christ

''At this Christmas season, let us remember well the founding principles of these United States of America. Furthermore, let us renew with vigor the fight for freedom before our liberties and our heritage are gone altogether.''

As we approach the celebration of Christ's birth, I am reminded of the words of John Quincy Adams. On July 4, 1837, he spoke these words:
"Why is it that, next to the birthday of the Savior of the world, your most joyous and most venerated festival returns on this day? ... Is it not that, in the chain of human events, the birthday of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birthday of the Savior? That it forms a leading event in the progress of the Gospel dispensation? Is it not that the Declaration of Independence first organized the social compact on the foundation of the Redeemer's mission upon earth. That it laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity, and gave to the world the first irrevocable pledge of the fulfillment of the prophecies announced directly from Heaven at the birth of the Savior and predicted by the greatest of the Hebrew prophets six hundred years before?"
Adams was exactly right: America's birth is directly linked to the birth of our Savior. In fact, the United States of America is the only nation established by Christian people, upon Biblical principles, and dedicated to the purpose of religious liberty. This truth is easily observed within America's earliest history.

Liberals scold black conservatives

Liberals scold black conservatives

''I share these two stories as examples of attempts to stifle personal greatness. Folks, liberals (black and white) have been stifling black American individuality and greatness for years while deceptively shrouded in compassion. In reality, liberals' true attitude towards independent blacks is, "Who the "H" do you think you are? How dare you achieve success without us."

A young married couple, Paul and Nancy were neighbors of mine back in the seventies. Nancy was extremely excited. An unexpected opportunity arose for her to attend college. This would broaden her horizons and enable her to pursue opportunities beyond her current minimum wage jobs. Paul was dead set against it. He confided in me, "I'm afraid if she gets educated, she may not want me anymore." I thought, "So rather than allowing Nancy whom you profess to love to be all she can be, you would prefer to keep her down."
In the eighties, I was a member of a team of six artists at a Baltimore TV station. They hired a new kid. Jeff was talented, enthusiastic and ambitious. Whenever someone came in the art department with a request and our supervisor was unavailable, (while other artists ignored them thinking it's not my job) Jeff stepped up and took care of them. Jeff's attitude caused tension between him and our union. While the union could not nail Jeff for doing anything outside of the restrictions of our contract, the consensus was he was too friendly with management and eager to do things beneficial to the company. The real conflict was Jeff's nature drove him to excellence and our union encouraged group mediocrity.

Traitors, every last one

Traitors, every last one

''It is telling, indeed, that Senator Harry Reid scheduled the vote on H.R. 3590 for the middle of the night, being the unethical, amoral coward that he is.''

At 1 a.m. on December 21, 2009, in the dark of night, the first cloture vote was taken on H.R. 3590, Senator Harry Reid's Obama Deathcare Bill.
The bill and all actions taken thus far can be found by
clicking here and, in the search slot, entering "H.R. 3590", clicking on "Bill Number" then clicking "SEARCH". (This procedure will work for any bill you wish to look at.)
How your Senator voted on cloture December 21, 2009, in the middle of the night,
can be found here and also accessible under "All Congressional Actions with Amendments" when H.R. 3590 is put in the search slot on the main page of thomas.loc.gov. The vote was all Democrats (60) voting "yes" and all Republicans (40) voting "no".
You will note that this bill, voted on by the Senate, is not a Senate bill; it is a House bill. How can it be that a House bill was used to introduce language written by the Senate?
A House bill was used, its language stricken and substituted by Senator Reid and his co-conspirators, because the Senate cannot, constitutionally, introduce a bill that appropriates money.
As such, the Senate's way of circumventing this is to take a House bill, sent to the Senate after House passage, and strike the language and introduce language written by Senators.
Is this constitutional? Let's put it this way, that was not what was intended when the Constitution was written. But then, the Constitution, in the words of John Adams, was written for a moral and religious people; being wholly inadequate for people who have no morals, no conscience and certainly no principles or standards; who believe right and wrong are situational, pliant to whatever their agenda is.

'bamacare blackmail

'bamacare blackmail

''After all the dust settles, millions will remain uninsured, which makes this entire bill a grotesque mockery of the American people. The clock is ticking toward 2010.''

At least common thieves don't destroy an entire health-care system and socialize the American economy when they commit their felonies. Too bad we can't say the same for our illustrious Democratic senators who sold out the nation.
In exchange for criminally unconstitutional favors for their respective states, they voted to pass the Senate health-care bill just 38 hours after it had been made available to the public for review.
Everyone knows about Sen. Mary Landrieu's negotiating $300 million for her state in non-guaranteed Medicaid payouts. She was even cocky about her institutionalized larceny.
Sen. Bernie Sanders finagled $10 billion worth of earmarked greenbacks for the
funding of community health centers in his home state, Vermont, to support a bill he vehemently opposed just three days earlier.
Sanders and Sen. Patrick Leahy secured additional Medicaid funding for Vermont, while senators from Pennsylvania, New York and Florida achieved Medicare Advantage protections for their constituents even as benefits from this program are being cut nationwide.
When did government officials start ignoring our national charter – and why does it continue? Find out in "Who Killed the Constitution?"
And why not? The end always justifies the means for these liberals. And the end, in this case, is their long-held Utopian Marxist dream of socialized
health care
. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was not only unapologetic but also defiant about these bribes. "You'll find a number of states that are treated differently than other states. That's what legislating is all about. It's compromise," said Reid.
But this wasn't compromise. It was blackmail. And the payoff was at the expense of our bankrupt heirs.
