Palin in 2012!

Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska announced yesterday that she is resigning and will not seek a second term as governor. Many conservatives are characterizing this as an abdication of responsibility and a failure of will. Quin Hillyer wrote in the American Spectator that "Sarah Palin's resignation is an appalling dereliction of duty and a highly cynical move to set herself up for a presidential run for which she is manifestly unqualified."

I vehemently disagree. She did not quit. From what I saw of her speech before Fox inexplicably cut it off (after seven days of wall-to-wall Michael Jackson coverage), this is not a woman who is retiring or "cutting and running," as Hillyer put it. She is getting into the fight to save America. Palin committed herself to fighting "for our state and our country, and campaign(ing) for those who believe in smaller government, free enterprise, strong national security, support for our troops and energy independence." Obama's treasonous presidency has made this struggle necessary. Palin, like all patriotic Americans, is shocked by what is happening. Obama is destroying this country. She knows it. We all know it. We need a leader.

Palin is that leader. On Friday she assumed the mantle. She delivered a campaign speech. She spoke on the eve of Independence Day about the sacrifices great Americans have made, and what our Founding Fathers fought and died for. Without naming Obama, she went after his disastrous policies, saying that "living beyond our means today is irresponsible for tomorrow," and noting that as governor she had "vetoed debt-ridden stimulus dollars." She believes in and wants to fight for free enterprise, small government and national security.

And is she really "manifestly unqualified" to be president? I am unmoved by assertions that Palin needs more foreign policy experience or more experience of any kind. She has the key ingredient to great leadership: common sense. I am not concerned that she won't get up to speed on the nitty gritty details of national and international issues. Her thinking is sound. She has common sense, a moral compass and a very definite understanding of good and evil.

Palin accepts apology, now dummy up Sarah

Sarah Palin says she accepts David Letterman's apology for the joke about her daughter.

The Alaska governor, in a statement issued Tuesday, said the apology was accepted "on behalf of all young women, like my daughters, who hope men who `joke' about public displays of sexual exploitation of girls will soon evolve."

On his CBS' "Late Show" on Monday night, Letterman said his joke about one of Palin's daughters being "knocked up" by Alex Rodriguez can't be defended.

He said the joke referred to 18-year-old Bristol Palin, not her 14-year-old sister Willow. But Letterman said it's his responsibility that people believed that he intended to target Willow, who had attended a New York Yankees game with her mother.

"I'm sorry about it, and I'll try to do better in the future," he said.

Letterman last week tried to make light of the joke after the first indications that it fallen flat. Palin had called the comments "sexually perverted," and her husband, Todd, said that "any jokes about raping my 14-year-old are despicable."

Palin said Tuesday that Letterman has the right to joke about whatever he wants to, and "thankfully we have the right to express our reaction."

Don't blame David Letterman

I don't blame David Letterman for making his crude jokes about Sarah Palin's daughter – nor do I hold him responsible, as such. I blame women for his contemptible ignorance in thinking he could do so with impunity.

Too many of today's generation of women have forgotten what it is to truly be a lady, and worse, they have forgotten and redefined how to respect themselves. When women view their single most important demand in life as the right to be the supply chain for a multi-billion dollar industry by freely donating their unborn children to it – how can they expect men, especially the Letterman types, to respect any aspect of their being? Save as useful tools for selfish pleasure without fear of consequence or responsibility.

His comments, in the context of what he does, were no different than those made by Don Imus, when he called players on a women's basketball team "nappy-headed hos." The difference being that those Imus attempted to belittle were in a protected minority class and Sarah Palin is not.

Duplicitous double standards based on political positions undermine the value and merit of those who, as my grandmother used to say, "grunt at a gnat and swallow a camel."

What is the extend of societal harm done by the so-called women's movement? Find out in "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Women, Sex and Feminism"

Women's suffrage came about because women, as a whole, demanded it. But today, even though abuse of women by men is nearly universally condemned, there are those who rush to say it is the woman's fault she was abused. Some women even argue that the abused deserve it.

Palin is not future of the GOP

Prominent Republican Bill Bennett took issue Sunday with what he called the “media’s focus” on Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Asked about the Republican Party’s increasingly public struggle to define itself and identify new leaders after eight years of the George W. Bush administration, Bennett said the press should be less myopic in its coverage of the GOP.

“One of the things the media could do – some of the media – is to move the debate off Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh,” Bennett, a CNN Contributor, said on State of the Union. “This is probably not the future of the Republican Party,” added Bennett.

“You don’t think Gov. Palin’s the future of the Republican Party?” queried CNN Chief National Correspondent John King.

Low oil prices sour Alaskans on Sarah Palin

Once billed as the most popular governor in America, Alaska Republican Sarah Palin has seen her popularity take a dive.

According to a recent Hays Research poll, 54% of Alaskans have either a very or somewhat positive view of the governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee while 42% have a very or somewhat negative view.

The results are vastly different than a similar poll taken by Hays Research about a year ago which gave Palin an 86% positive rating and a 9% negative rating.

Palin and her family have remained in the media spotlight since her November defeat in the presidential race.

Gov. Palin is authentic and genuine

One, if by land
A 1000 words by Miguel Diocuore
Who?  Gov. Palin is authentic - she says what she believes and she acts accordingly.
THe disgraceful Palin effigy of not only Governor of a very important State but the mother of five children, which Barack did not denounce, crystalized for many people the intellectual and moral bankruptcy of the Democratic Party and its Obamamatons. Her communication
skills are matched by her beliefs and her accomplishments - there is no secret - just truth.

Go Sarah

The mainstream media has derided Sarah Palin's decision to personally raise her son with Down's syndrome. Why would they care about anybody ELSE who has a child with special needs?
The elitists of Old Media and the Democratic Party have no time for parents who care for the imperfect ones.

Palin speaks out against socialism

We desperately need someone in our party to speak out against socialism. No one in the GOP has done that for years. But it's what the people long for. Palin has her hand on the pulse of the nation and is showing real leadership.

"Saturday Night Muerto"

Pushmi-pullyu Politics
by Miguel Diocuore
I love Sarah Palin, so tried to watch "Saturday Night Live" last night. It emphatically brought back to me why I don't watch. God bless Sarah, but she should not lower herself to such depths. That program is inane, mean, insipid and not funny at all. As a matter of fact, neither is Letterman, Leno and that other guy on ABC.
