From August 2009: Sarah Palin gets 1,100 invitations

Sarah Palin gets 1,100 invitations

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin this week will begin accepting and rejecting the more than 1,070 invitations
she has received for paid speeches and political appearances since she resigned as Alaska governor, aides said.
Twenty speakers’ bureaus made offers to represent her. She has signed with Washington Speakers Bureau, which represents everyone from George and Laura Bush to Bob Woodward and Katie Couric to Alan Greenspan, Colin Powell and Rudy Giuliani.
More than 950 requests for speeches have poured in for
Palin, and over 120 candidates for office have asked her to appear, including folks running for Senate, House and state legislature, aides said.
Palin will be doing both paid speeches, which are expected to go for six figures apiece, and unpaid speeches for political and charitable causes, including Christian organizations, groups that support families with special-needs children, and military families. Read more:

Hunting donkeys

Hunting donkeys

Sarah Palin added to the weekend fireworks by announcing on July 3 that she'd be resigning as Alaska governor effective in about three weeks.

I know what you're thinking: "South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford is busted with a Venezuelan mistress, and Sarah Palin resigns?" Those looking to Palin's resignation as a signal of some sort of as yet to be exposed "wrongdoing" on her part don't know politics. In politics, the guilty are the ones who stick around – that's why we're in so much trouble.

After Palin's announcement on Friday, the rumor mill began buzzing even louder than usual. Theories ranging from claims that Palin is about to be charged with embezzlement, to she's pregnant again, to she's running for president, to my own theory that Palin quit to become the host of her own game show called "You Bet'cha Life!"

There were also the expected tasteless jokes about her kids under the guise of "satire." One of these sensitive, caring liberals wrote that Palin is "the first politician to actually try to increase the population of retarded people." And all along I thought that was ACORN's job.

Predictably, those who seem to have devoted their lives to being Sarah Palin's sworn enemies were, in exceedingly generous gestures, the first out of the gate to offer Palin post-resignation career advice.

Among all the reactions to Palin's resignation, none was more stark-raving contradictory than the Democratic National Committee's response:

DNC Spokesman Brad Woodhouse:

"Either Sarah Palin is leaving the people of Alaska high and dry to pursue her long shot national political ambitions or she simply can't handle the job now that her popularity has dimmed and oil revenues are down. Either way – her decision to abandon her post and the people of Alaska who elected her continues a pattern of bizarre behavior that more than anything else may explain the decision she made today."

Those who dismissed Palin as the governor of a meaningless, backward state are now the first out of the gate to accuse her of abandoning her absolutely vital duties to that important state? Funny.

Super Sarah, Just Super!

THE BABE IN THE BUNKER Barbara Simpson

 Super Sarah, Just Super!

It was quite amazing. Sarah Palin stole the headlines from Michael Jackson!

It was Friday, the day before a national holiday, and in the way of Americans these days, Independence Day celebrations had begun.

Crowds left town; many businesses closed early or didn't bother to open at all, making it another three-day weekend.

But in Alaska, in the yard of her home, Gov. Sarah Palin made a speech that shook both political parties and brought out more of the insulting long knives among the so-called pundits.

Even on a normal Friday, generally speaking, "news" doesn't happen and media are essentially closed for the weekend. No one expects breaking news.

Sarah Palin chose late morning in Alaska to drop her media bombshell; it was after 4 p.m. on the East Coast. Media were wrapped up, and most regular talk hosts were on vacation, their microphones manned by some "fill in" who never anticipated big news!

The bombshell Palin dropped on the small crowd gathered as she spoke, was that not only was she not going to run for re-election as governor, she would resign her office July 26.

That's it! Done! Over!

Her short speech was addressed to Alaskans and briefly outlined both the history and importance of the state as well as her administration's accomplishments.

If she were a candidate, it was a perfect summary of campaign talking points. It was stunning in its political import and reaction ranged from name calling, to psychological analysis to ridicule. According to some, her political career is over. They're far from kind, but the media have never been kind to Palin.

Sarah Palin to soar over a liberal sewer

Sarah Palin to take the national 'high road'

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin didn't wait long to give some hint of what her political life might look like after she leaves office at the end of the month.
After staying out of the public eye for most of Saturday, a day after abruptly announcing she would soon give up her job as governor, Palin indicated on a social networking site that she would take on a larger, national role, citing a "higher calling" to unite the country along conservative lines.

"I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint," the former Republican vice presidential candidate wrote in a posting on her Facebook page. Palin's spokeswoman, Meghan Stapleton, confirmed Palin wrote the entry.
"How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; it's about country," the statement said. "And though it's honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make."
Sarah is apparently not slipping away into the Alaskan bush. If the liberals are smart, they will disguise their fear this time out.

Who?

One, if by land
A 1000 words by Miguel Diocuore
Who?

Gov. Palin is authentic - she says what she believes and she acts accordingly.
THe disgraceful Palin effigy of not only Governor of a very important State but the mother of five children, which Barack did not denounce, crystalized for many people the intellectual and moral bankruptcy of the Democratic Party and its Obamamatons. Her communication
skills are matched by her beliefs and her accomplishments - there is no secret - just truth.

Be sure to watch Sarah, a future president Tonight!

"She is more prepared than Barack Obama to be president of the United States."

ALL EYES ON SARAH; NETS PREPARE FOR RECORD AUDIENCE

Sarah Palin prepared for the speech of her life Wednesday as John McCain's
campaign called for an end to questions about its review of her background and derided a "faux media scandal designed to destroy the first female Republican nominee" for vice president.

As GOP leaders lined up to defend her, the first-term Alaska governor took a tour of the Xcel Energy Center stage where she will accept the No. 2 nomination. A few hours later, she and her family met McCain on an airport tarmac as he arrived in the convention city.
